Terms and Conditions
TERMS & CONDITIONS
Payment of the deposit confirms that you would like to go ahead with the booking and that you agree with the terms and conditions below.
OUR QUOTATION
1. Our quotations do not include any fees or taxes payable to government bodies.
2. Our quotations are subject to change if circumstances arise which cannot be considered at the time of providing such quote.
3. Quotations are not fixed price. Hours are estimated at the pre-visit. We work on the clock, so if hours are less than quoted charged hours will be adjusted accordingly.
4. Quotes will be provided within specified time given at the pre-visit.
5. We will provide our advice on resources needed to complete your move in the most efficient and cost-effective way, and options will be provided if requested but the final decision is with you.
6. When we provide you with a quote, we will provisionally hold the date for you as a courtesy. We understand that you might be looking at multiple options and there is no obligation to accept our quote but once you have decided on the company that will be completing your move it would be greatly appreciated if you could let us know if you like to go ahead or not at your earliest convenience, so dates are not being held that are not required.
7. We understand that you might want to take all furniture to your new property, but it is advisable to measure up beforehand to check that items will fit into the space in your new property. We will try our best to dismantle any items required but it is not always possible to complete the dismantle or reassemble to the same standard as these items depending on how these have originally been assembled. If this is not possible, we will inform you at the time for you to decide on the best course of action and can suggest waste removal solutions if required. We will do our best to ensure your items are delivered to the required address, but you are responsible for ensuring that items will fit into your new home. It is recommended that you measure access points and stairwells to ensure that any items that are moving will fit through the door and into the required room at the new property.
WORK NOT INCLUDED IN QUOTATION
1. Unless agreed by us, we will not dismantle or assemble units, furniture or remove fixtures and fittings.
2. We are not trained plumbers or electricians so are not able to disconnect or re-connect white good or electrical items as we would not want to cause damage to your property or goods that you would be responsible for but are happy to move these items once disconnected.
3. Unless agreed by us, we are unable to remove items from a loft unless properly lit, the surface is safe, and access is safely provided.
4. Unless agreed by us, we reserve the right not to move any items not seen during the time of providing a quote. We reserve the right not to move any items where the value has not been established at the time of providing the quote, if items require a specialist moving service or are above our level of insurance. In this case we will not proceed with the service and will return your deposit within 1 week.
PACKING
1. J&T Moves pride ourselves on providing a great service. We offer a packing service using high standard but fairly priced materials.
2. If you decide to pack yourselves, please feel free to ask for recommendations on the best way to pack your items to ensure safe transportation. We are happy to provide advice at the pre-visit or any time before your move. Double walled boxes are always the best option as are the strongest boxes to safely transport your items. Please be aware to use appropriate boxes for required items and be mindful that boxes need to be able to be stacked in the van so please ensure they are sealed, marked fragile and have kept their original shape.
3. It is your responsibility to notify us of any fragile boxes so we can ensure these are placed in the appropriate order for transportation.
4. If you are packing your own boxes, please ensure these are not overfilled as boxes can be difficult to transport safely if overfilled.
5. We are not responsible for any goods that have been packed by yourselves but will advise if we see any items that don’t look safe for transportation and offer you our recommendation on the best way of transporting the item, providing alternative packing material if available, but the decision and responsibility remains with you. Any additional charges will be advised prior to your approval.
6. It is your responsibility to let us know if there are any fragile items so we can advise if they have been correctly packed.
7. You are responsible for Laptops, mobile phones, jewellery, and any other sentimental items. These should be kept in your possession at all times and transported by yourself. Please ensure these are kept separate from items being moved to ensure that there is no confusion as we take no responsibility for these items if not in our possession
8. It is your responsibility to Inform us of any items with a value of £500 and over prior to the job so we can ensure our insurance is adequate. If we are not notified prior to the job, we are unable to ensure these items are covered. Receipts of purchase will be required prior to any settlement claim.
9. It is recommended to transport TVs in a TV box with sufficient padding to protect the TV. We can order TV boxes for you if required, at a charge or you can source this yourself. If you decide to source yourself, please ensure that you are using a double walled box and there is sufficient padding to protect your TV. This will be your responsibility if packed by yourself. TV’s are originally delivered in double walled boxes and are heavily protected by polystyrene, and therefore we do not advise to move a TV without a box to protect the TV. If you decide to go ahead without, we are not liable for any damage
GOODS NOT SUITABLE FOR REMOVAL
1. The following items will not be moved under any circumstances. These items include prohibited illegal or stolen goods, drugs, potentially dangerous damaging, or explosive items such as gas cannisters paints and any other items we identify during your removal. If we become aware of any of these items during the removal, we will notify the relevant authorities.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO US
1. It is required that you or your representative is present during the full removal.
2. We recommend completing a final check of the property and van once the job is complete to ensure nothing has been missed.
3. Parking arrangements to be discussed and agreed at pre-visit and if you decide not to prebook parking it will your responsibility to cover any parking costs, or any parking fines incurred throughout the job. These charges will be added to the final cost.
4. Please notify us of any cancellations at least 24 hours in advance of the job. Any cancellations received with less than 24 hours’ notice will require payment in full.
CLAIMS
1. Any claim for damages and or loss must be raised at the time of your removal being completed, this is so the relevant forms can be filled out and agreed by both parties before we leave the premises.
2. We take no responsibility for items that you claim have been damaged or lost after we have left the premises after a completed removal.
PAYMENTS
1. 20% deposit is required to secure your booking. We are happy to change date as many times as required. We will do our best to accommodate date changes, but if for any reason your new date is not possible, we will offer as many alternatives as we can and hopefully, we can mutually agree on a suitable date. Deposits are not refundable, as once confirmed have prevented us from taking on any other bookings for that day. Please make contact as soon as possible so we can do our best to accommodate your change in date.
